15/07/08 Back on the writing front again after developing the final few written tutorials; the DTE v3 tutorial list is pretty much now set in stone. Keep a close eye on the site over the next few weeks as I'll be posting the full list of the written tutorial results to the gallery pages. Also added the Facebook link above. Now you can add me as a friend, even though we've never actually even met... :)
17/06/08 Two updates in two days??! Ye Gads! This time I've finally managed to get my reel updated for the first time in about two years... have a look in the Gallery section for more info on this! Also added a new sample image for the DTE 3rd Edition book to the 3D Gallery.
16/06/08 Finally managed to find time to update the website... only been over a year!!
New stuff in the 3D gallery including some stuff I did at Lightworx and some images from the new Deconstructing the Elements book I'm currently writing, which includes a tutorial on recreating the above header image! A long time coming, but it'll be worth the wait :) 100% brand new tutorials this time around, including a pretty cool terrain weathering system to realistically erode mountains and other surfaces, producing effective displacement maps (and animated erosion). PLUS a pretty sweet deal too if you haven't already got the 2nd Edition:
Buy the new third edition one and get the 2nd edition (in essence, "Volume 1") for FREE as an electronic download!
(Freakin' sweet!)
If ye wants a copy, click on the Amazon links above to pre-order as it should be out in a few months.
And I know I keep saying it, but the Education section WILL get updated once I've got this book out of the way! If you're looking for any past 3D World papers, check out their main website over at www.3dworldmag.com.
Oh, one final thing, I know the support forum is currently down; my ISP is selling up and not going to be hosting websites any more, so I'm going to migrate the lot across to a new server. Apologies for this, but it'll be on a new server with a new forum with new, err, stuff...!
16/06/08 Interview with me over at Smoothdevil!!
22/05/07 I’ve been
nominated for an Autodesk
Masters award…!!!! How the hell did THAT happen?!
WOW.. errrr… I really
don’t know what to say!! I’m totally speechless (which, if you know me
personally you’ll know that it’s a rarity). Many MANY MANY thanks to
everyone who nominated me!!! Cheers!!!
Totally
forgot, but there’s also an interview article with me over at CGArena in the April issue… (and also HERE … check it out :) )
19/01/07 A belated Happy
New Year and all that stuff.
Righty,
with the formalities out of the way, a quick shout to say I'm hosting
another workshop at the Animex festival
oop north in Teesside on the 7th February, plus attending the Lounge event
to chat with students, industry and to sample the beers with the 'Bling and
Palace crew:) This year's workshop revolves around digital destruction with
3ds max (naturally!) and takes the form of a custom built tornadic system
ripping the guts out of a building with dynamics, particle jiggery-pokery
and other fancy stuff! Visit the Animex site to register for
the workshop and stay for the week... it's an ace festival and you won't
regret it, unlike
that cardie you got from Auntie Hilda on Boxing day... :)
24/11/06 I'm going to be
speaking at the Autodesk 3December event in London on the 4th
(no, that's not a typo) of December, where I'll be showing the stuff that
we've been working on at Lightworx for the past few months, plus breakdowns
of scene construction, and some other little r&d stuff in the pipeline
if I've got chance / don't get kicked off stage!
20/11/06 Only taken a few
years, but finally managed to update the links page!
21/10/06 I've finally
found time to update the site with some additional entries in the 3D
Gallery section including key shots from To/Die/For's promo video - 97
shots in 4 weeks... rock and roll man! (check out Lightworx main page
for a breakdown of the construction process)... plus updated other areas
such as the Publications page. Thanks to everyone who has been emailing me
requesting the demo reel be put back up on the site... I'm leaving it
offline at the moment as a new one is currently being put together which
I'll drop on there once it is finished.
08/10/06 I've recently
been informed from the publisher that the Japanese translation of DTE 2nd
Edition is just about sorted and should be out very soon! Many thanks to
Born Digital for the translation and distribution!
25/08/06 3D World magazine have
published a review of the DTE 2nd Edition book with a great grade of 9/10 ! Cheers
guys!!! :)
09/04/06 CGCast have
published an informal audio interview with me! Check it out at www.cgcast.com and have a listen to the
other interviews in the other episodes! Cheers to Olivier Archer for
sorting this out!
